The Department of Theory of State and Law of The Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is one of the leading scientific units in Ukraine, which carries out important theoretical and applied research in the field of law and state-building.
The focus of the scientific directions of the Department is always on topical issues of legal and state development related to legal consciousness, legal culture, legal education, regulation of legislation, problems of legality, law and order, legal progress in the context of civil society demands, legal analytics, legal forecasting, sources of law, legal monitoring, gender equality issues, etc. Traditional for the Department is the scientific support of issues related to the development of legislation in the context of European integration.
Employees of the Department are actively involved in the training of scientific personnel through postgraduate and doctoral studies.
Working on the implementation of scientific developments in legal practice, the Department of Theory launched in 2010 a startup related to the holding of annual international scientific and practical conferences on the consideration of problematic issues of law and state-building. During this period, 13 conferences were held, which resulted in the annual publication of the scientific and practical legal journal "Almanac of Law", which has already gained recognition among representatives of legal science and practice. "Almanac of Law" is a professional publication and is included in the International scientometric database Index Copernicus International (Poland).
